The Paperwork
There are a number of bodies who require you to purchase a license to either broadcast or play music as a public performance.
The first application you need to consider is the Restricted Service License or RSL. This allows you to actually “get on the air” using an FM low power radio transmitter.
The Phonographic Performance Ltd or PPL represent record companies and collect license fees to allow you to broadcast material owned by these companies.
The Performing Right Society or PRS & The Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society or MCPS represent the artists whose works are being broadcast.
